Wildenau
Rübgarten (The municipality of Pliezhausen), The county of Reutlingen
The castle of Wildenau was first mentioned in historical literature in 1232 and was destroyed around 1406 during the reign of the Vohl family of Wildenau. Its owners are said to haven been knights. It was located on a mountain ledge below Rübgarten between the Neckar and the Reichenbach Valley near the ford across the Neckar near Altenburg. Its location highlights its strategic importance. According to the description of the Oberamt from 1867, there were inheritance disputes between the brothers Conrad and Hans Vohl of Wildenau. The older of the two, Conrad, did not want to give his brother anything, although the Court of Justice located in Rottweil had ruled in Hans’ favor. Consequently, Hans Vohl called the city of Reutlingen for help, which ordered Altenburg to fire on the castle in 1406.
