Rösslesberg
Gönningen (Reutlingen), The county of Reutlingen
Numerous prehistoric ceramics have been found on the Rösslesberg, which date back to at least the Bronze or the Iron Age. The shallow troughs on the northern slope as well as the discovered pottery fragments could be proof of a former settlement site with wooden building from prehistoric times. The sheer number and quality of archaeological finds dating back to the Middle Ages indicate a greater importance of the Rösslesberg in the 10th and 11th century. There might as well have been a castle as there are ramparts and trenches, which are well preserved, as well as an access road, which is quite elaborately designed.
